The Mechanical Working Technique of the Elevators:

Lever mechanism

Wedge Mechanism:

Straight Elevator:

It has a straight surface with a convex surface and the other flat serrated working surface. The handles are serrated for a stronger grip. The small-tip straight elevators extract uninterrupted teeth, whereas the large tip is used for wide-spaced teeth.

Hockey Stick Elevator

The blades of this elevator are angular towards the shank. It is used on maxillary molars. Since there is no serration at the blade, the tip is small and precise.

Crane Pick Dental Elevator:

The elevator has a sharp, angulated blade. There are two surfaces of the elevator: angulated and straight. Once the tooth is extracted, It is used to elevate the broken root out from the tooth socket. Drill a hole in the root and insert the blade tip inside. Use the buccal cavity as the fulcrum while extracting the root bits. The crane tip elevators decrease the time of extraction and cause less trauma to the bone.
