A Guide to Anglevators & Their Uses

The dentistry field is constantly evolving to better suit patient needs. If you haven’t paid a visit to a dentist, now’s the time. Going for a checkup every 6 months or annually is crucial for healthy gums and teeth. Ergonomically designed tools such as Anglevators help in reducing musculoskeletal injuries, and much more. Read on to find out more about Anglevators and their impact on modern-day dentistry.

Uses of an Anglevator

The instrument plays a vital role in atraumatic dental extraction.  Anglevators combines six other dental tools, i.e., Dental Chisels, Periotomes, Luxator, Crane Pick, Proximator, and Dental Elevator. Thus, the instrument is universal by nature and can perform the extraction of any teeth.

Anglevator uses

Here’s a guide to using Anglevators.

Step 1:

Hold the Anglevator apically and wedge it between the periodontal ligament (PDL) and root of the affected tooth. Then, work your way inside the periodontal ligament in a rocking motion.

Step 2:

When the Anglevator is buried deep into the periodontal ligament, it elevates the surface of the root. Then, by twisting the instrument with the help of your fingers, root luxation begins.

Step 3:

When the root movement begins, penetrate the Anglevator with gentle force. If possible, twist it like a luxating elevator.

Step 4:

If required, move towards another root area and repeat the process until it comes out of the bone socket.

Step 5:

Extract the luxated tooth with the help of extraction forceps.

Why do we recommend Anglevators?

Dentists are evolving and are ready to buy the latest dentistry equipment. Dental surgical instruments like Anglevators help in atraumatic tooth extractions, eventually winning the patient’s trust.

Anglevator Maintenance:

Since Anglevators are made from high-end stainless steel, it increases their shelf life. However, using a pink/blue rubber wheel instead of a sharpening stone will maintain and keep the instrument’s edges sharp.

Conclusion:

An Anglevator is a hybrid dental surgical instrument used in performing teeth extraction surgery. To conclude, they are lightweight and universal instruments. They are also reliable, durable, and effective when dealing with larger bone defects.
